College of Charleston head men's basketball coach Chris Mack has announced the signing of Derrin Boyd to the Cougars 2024-25 roster.
Boyd spent the last two seasons at Lipscomb earning All-ASUN second team honors this season. The Kentucky native was Lipscomb's leading scorer at 17.6 points per game, ranking 4th in the ASUN in the category, playing in 22 games and starting in 20 games before a season-ending injury.
"Derrin Boyd is a high-level scorer and has been well coached prior to his arrival at The College. Derrin can score at all three levels and that scoring punch was a high priority for our staff," said Mack.
He averaged 18 points per game in ASUN play while connecting at a 53% percent clip. He was 44% from three-point range this season to go along with 84% from the free-throw line. In ASUN play, he shot over 53% from the field and 48.9% from three-point range.
The guard scored double-digits in 19 games, including nine 20+ point games including a 38-point performance at Florida Gulf Coast. He averaged 3.6 rebounds per game on the season to go along with 15 assists and seven steals. He was also named the ASUN Scholar Athlete of the Year.
"He will have a tremendous impact with his leadership, his maturity and love for the game," added Mack. "Despite being injured last season, Derrin will be ready to go when our season rolls around."
Prior to suiting up for the Bisons, Boyd played two seasons at NAIA Georgetown College where he was an Honorable Mention All-American and two-time Mid-South Conference first team selection.
