State Representative JA Moore (D-Charleston) today announced he will seek re-election to the South Carolina House of Representatives.
“We need to make ‘Moore Progress’ in 2024," Rep. Moore said. "I’m running for re-election to continue working for the people of House District 15. I promise to keep fighting for women’s rights, public education, and more economic opportunity for people in the Lowcountry."
During his time in the State House, Rep. Moore’s accomplishments include:
- sponsoring the Health Education Act to provide mental health education in K-12 schools, which was signed into law;
- sponsoring the “Veteran’s Bill of Rights” to protect the rights of military veterans in the areas of employment, health care, mental health services, and housing;
- supporting infrastructure improvements, including securing $250,000 for a clean water study to protect communities from contaminated water;
- serving on the House Committee on Artificial Intelligence, Cybersecurity, and Cyber Crimes to protect personal data and position South Carolina on the cutting edge of emerging technology; and
- always voting to protect women’s freedom and expand access to reproductive health care.
Rep. Moore was first elected in 2018, when he became the first Democrat to represent House District 15. The district covers Charleston County, including parts of North Charleston, and Berkeley County, including parts of Goose Creek.
