Michael B. Moore, a Democrat running for the U.S. House of Representatives in South Carolina's 1st Congressional District, today announced the latest group of Lowcountry leaders endorsing his campaign.
Moore's second round of citizen supporters includes former state Sen. Marlon Kimpson, Charleston City Council Member Keith Waring, community leader Renee Harvey, Awendaw Mayor Miriam Green, former Charleston County Associate Probate Judge Tamara Curry, and attorney Rev. Dr. Eduardo Curry.
"I'm incredibly grateful to have earned the support of this diverse group of advocates, elected officials, and citizen leaders here in SC-01," Moore said in a statement. "They share our hopeful vision for the future of this district — and they agree that this campaign is best positioned to energize our Democratic base, persuade independent-minded Republicans, and assemble the coalition needed to win in November."
Moore also announced today that his campaign received the 2024 Moms Demand Action Gun Sense Candidate distinction, awarded to candidates across the country who advocate for gun violence prevention and make a commitment to govern with gun safety in mind.
Moore previously unveiled his first round of citizen supporters in April, a group that included Rev. Kenneth Hodges, businessman Bratton Riley, former Beaufort Mayor Billy Keyserling, Rev. Eric S.C. Manning, former Charleston County Council Member Anna Johnson, former Charleston Mayor John Tecklenburg, Rev. Joseph Darby, Gullah ambassador Anita-Singleton Prather, former state Rep. Anton Gunn, and Bluffton Town Council Member Bridgette Frazier.
In addition, Moore has won endorsements from influential labor organizations and groups fighting for working families, including the International Longshoremen's Association Local 1422 and the Retail, Wholesale and Department Store Union.
