The International Longshoremen Association Local 1422 recently announced its endorsement of candidates for U.S. Congress and the South Carolina state legislature in the upcoming June 11th Primary Election.
In response to Governor Henry McMaster's declaration to "fight unions to the gates of hell," ILA Local 1422 said they stand firmly with candidates with a proven track record of advocating for working people. The organization also said they are dedicated to supporting candidates who share their vision of equity and fairness.
The endorsed candidates are:
- State Representative Wendell Gilliard for SC House District 111
- Kim Greene for SC Senate District 42
- Michael Moore for US House District 01
"These candidates have demonstrated unwavering dedication to the betterment of the working class and have shown a deep understanding of the issues facing the people of South Carolina," ILA Local 1422 said in a press release.
Charles Brave, president of ILA Local 1422, said, "I am proud to stand with candidates who have proven that they will not back down when fighting for working people. The Governor said that he would fight us to the gates of hell. Well, with these candidates, we will meet him there and win every time!"
ILA Local 1422 plans to make additional endorsements across the state at a later date.
