Sample Spread from “Just a Worm”
Press Release
Columbia, SC — Marie Boyd's debut picture book, Just a Worm, was released onTuesday, March 14th, just in time to celebrate the arrival of spring. It is published by Greenwillow Books, an imprint of HarperCollins Publishers.
In the book, after being called “just a worm” by two children, Worm embarks on a journey through the garden to prove them wrong. Along the way, Worm encounters several insects and other creatures, each of which has important qualities. But what can Worm do? Just a Worm offers a heartwarming message of discovery and self-worth.
Marie illustrated Just a Worm using a technique called quilling. She cut colorful paper into narrow strips. She coiled, curled, and shaped the paper and then glued it on edge to make the illustrations. Kirkus Reviews called the illustrations “stunning.” To view a quilling tutorial, visit www.marieboyd.com/tutorials.
