At the start of the year, a group of Holy City residents created a grass-roots campaign urging local lawmakers to finish I-526. They created Charlestonians FOR I-526, which now has over 1,000 “likes” on Facebook. On that page they describe their mission:
“Our islands are amazing places to call home. However, more people are calling them home than ever and our roads are overcrowded. Charleston is a growing city, and our roadways need to be built to absorb all the new traffic. It is an issue of safety, planning for our futures and quality of life not just for island residents but for all of Charleston.”
If you’d like to support them, like their Facebook page, visit their blog, or sign their petition. As an added bonus, they are giving away some sweet stickers so you can show your support. The sticker is pictured above.
