An athletic trainer with Fort Dorchester High School (FDHS) in Dorchester School District Two was recently honored by the South Carolina Athletic Trainers' Association (SCATA) for his service.
Jimmie “Doc” Rogers (above) received the prestigious Fred W. Hoover Award of Excellence for making a difference for athletes at all levels of competition and helping to advance SCATA and the profession. Rogers has supported athletes from FDHS, Horry County Schools, Furman University, South Carolina State University, and the 1972 undefeated Super Bowl Champion Miami Dolphins.
Beyond his role as athletic trainer, Rogers teaches sports medicine classes and serves as Director of Sports Medicine for all FDHS athletic teams.
“My philosophy is the well-being of the athlete first and winning second,” said Rogers. “My job is to get them back to competition as quickly and safely as possible.”
