Charleston County says crews will close a lane on I-26 eastbound on Friday, August 18th from 7 pm to 6 am. The lane closure will be between the Ashley Phosphate and University Boulevard exits.
Crews will be installing signage for the Palmetto Interchange Project. Drivers are asked to slow down and be extra careful in the area. All work is weather permitting.
The new interchange will provide access to existing and planned developments directly from I-26. It also includes a 10-foot shared multiuse path that will improve mobility and accessibility options for the surrounding communities by providing connectivity between Weber Boulevard and Otranto Road. The project is scheduled to be substantially complete by the end of 2025 and fully complete in early 2026.
