Attorney Mark Joye, of the Joye Law Firm, has been elected President of the Charleston Bar Association. A legal professional with a career spanning 30 years, Joye brings experience leading both national and statewide organizations, and said he was honored to take on this new role.
Founded in 1699 (90 years prior to the U.S Constitution) and boasting more than 2,000 members, the Charleston Bar Association is one of the oldest and largest legal organizations in the United States.
For his 2024-2025 term, Joye said he plans to focus on strengthening the organization's future through member engagement and the recruitment of the next generation of attorneys.
"I am proud of this opportunity to lead an organization that has such a long and storied history," said Mark Joye, newly elected President of the Charleston Bar Association. "A lot has changed in nearly four-hundred years, but what remains the same is our steadfast dedication to preserving and protecting our democracy’s system of law."
A life-long Charlestonian and second-generation Charleston Bar member, Joye joined the Charleston Bar organization in 1989. By the mid-90s Mark, and his father, the late Atty. Reese Joye, found themselves in national headlines by securing a $262.5 million dollar verdict against Chrysler. The result remains the largest personal injury verdict in South Carolina history.
Joye is board-certified Trial Advocate, who has secured numerous accolades and recognition throughout his career. He holds a prestigious AV Rating from Martindale Hubbell and is consistently selected for inclusion in peer-reviewed legal directories like South Carolina Super Lawyers and Best Lawyers in America.
