The Charleston Animal Society (CAS) is offering a $3,000 reward for information leading to the felony arrest and conviction of any parties responsible for a one-year-old female dog with multiple injuries that was found wandering on Houston Street in North Charleston.
CAS says that Whitney the dog was emaciated and had open sores around her nipples resulting from a severe mammary gland infection. CAS's veterinary team provided immediate treatment that included draining the mammary abscesses, cleaning the wounds, bandaging the wounds, and administering antibiotic and pain medications. Whitney was also covered in "Blu-Kote," a farm germicidal spray intended for livestock.
"This didn't happen in a day," said Charleston Animal Society Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Aldwin Roman, CAWA. "She has been suffering for a long time without getting the food and medical attention she desperately needed. Thankfully, she is under our care and is now on the long road to recovery."
You can reach CAS at (843) 747-4849. They can be found at 2455 Remount Road in North Charleston.
