The Southern Living Taste of Charleston has arrived in Holy City! There are a few events throughout the weekend, but none are bigger than the main event which will stretch to two days this year. First up is the Iron Chef Competition tonight (Friday) at 6 pm. Sadly, tickets for that event are sold out, but if you are attending, have fun!
Saturday is “Taste of the Arts on Gallery Row,” which will showcase multiple downtown art houses. Local artists will be on display as you enjoy their work and some appetizers. More info can be found on the official site.
The main event will once again be held at Boone Hall Plantation, but will start on Saturday this year. There will be plenty of local cuisines made by the best local restaurants available for tasting, the popular Waiters’ Race, and a beer garden.
Tickets are $15 before the event and $20 at the gate, but parking is FREE. You will also need to purchase tickets inside the venue for food and beverages. The local samplings will run $2-6 worth of tickets.
All the details about the event can be found HERE.
As an aside – The following local charities will receive help thanks to the 2011 Taste of Charleston (according to the official site): “HOLLINGS CANCER CENTER, THE RONALD MCDONALD HOUSE OF CHARLESTON, CHARLESTON COUNTY SCHOOL'S SCIENCE MATERIALS RESOURCE CENTER”
