Commune Supper Cult founder Becky Burke – alongside Katie Wells – have announced the Art of Eating Well retreat to be held from September 7th to 9th in and around downtown Charleston. Based on the popular supper club Burke created four years ago, the Art of Eating Well will build on what Commune diners have come to love over the years – a multi-day immersion experience that incorporates learning about food and wellness through local culinary and wellness experts.
Designed to educate and enlighten, the culinary and wellness retreat will teach meaningful tools to those who seek a deeper understanding about the connection that food has with our bodies and overall health and happiness.

Katie and Becky, along with renowned Charleston chefs, nutritionists, instructors, and purveyors are on board to teach real tools that can be implemented into everyday lives and wellness routines. Burke says of the event, “with our inaugural retreat, we will incorporate tactical yet practical measures so the group leaves with a new understanding about food and its powerful connection to our minds and bodies.” Wells continues, “Becky and I have a deep history and profound respect for the Charleston culinary world and want to take our passion for it to the next level by creating a fun weekend that will leave everyone feeling inspired and energized.”
Burke and Wells are teaming up with several Lowcountry wellness leaders such as Caryn Antos O'Hara, Ken Immer, and Jennie Brooks of Longevity Fitness Charleston, who will lead educational and inspirational exercises designed to help participants get a better understanding of their relationship with food and how to personalize healthy habits that will stand the test of time. Scheduled events will range from interactive wellness sessions to shared meals at Leon's Oyster Shed, Basic Kitchen, Verde, the Watch Rooftop Restaurant at the Restoration Hotel. Self- reflective exercises, natural wine tastings, an Ayurvedic discussion with O'Hara, and a signature cardio class with Jennie Brooks of Longevity Fitness Charleston are all on the weekend itinerary.

About Becky Burke and Katie Wells
The wellness retreat was founded by long-time “foodie friends” Becky Burke and Katie Wells after they returned from separate wellness retreats in California feeling energized, refreshed, and inspired. They had long discussed their passion for the Charleston culinary world and how to incorporate it into a Lowcountry experience that focused on fun and wellness and would generate an energy they had both experienced out west. The final product after years of planning and recruiting partners is Commune's the Art of Eating. Please visit www.communecharleston.com to learn more about Becky, Katie, and the other leaders involved in the inaugural retreat.
