Oyster Reef Build in Charleston Harbor
to
Remleys Point Public Boat Landing 112 2nd Street, Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina 29464
LIMITED TO 100 PARTICIPANTS - RSVP REQUIRED!
This is a rain or shine event so watch the forecast and dress accordingly for a day out on the water. We expect 1,000 to 1,500 oyster shell bags this year which should make this a record breaker! This year also marks the 5,000 oyster bag milestone with SCDNR and SC Ports Authority so there will be media coverage of the event.
Meet at the Remley Point boat ramp at 10:30am to get signed in and learn about the oyster life cycle and why building oyster reefs is important from SC DNR experts. We will load the oyster bags onto boats and barges and all take the trip out to Drum Island to offload and place the oyster bags. Expect to get wet and muddy while making a big impact on water quality in Charleston Harbor! It is best to wear old sneakers instead of mud boots or rain boots. Snacks and beverages provided at the end, as well as a free raffle event.
Participants under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
Don't forget to RSVP to secure your spot!
