The Charleston Museum, located at 360 Meeting Street, is pleased to present its spring lecture series in conjunction with, The Art of Abstraction: Modernism in Quilting, currently on display in the Historic Textiles Gallery.
To kick-off the two-part lecture series, Curator of Historic Textiles Virginia Theerman will welcome quilting artist Cookie Washington and abstract painter Adam Eddy for a discussion about their respective mediums and the way they each approach their creative process. The finale of the series will include a conversation with mixed media artist, Katy Mixon, who will discuss artistic sustainability, her quilting inspirations, and her engagement with the museum’s collections to fuel her work. Each presentation promises to be an enlightening and engaging discussion:
- The Art of Abstraction Lecture Series: Textiles and Abstraction on Thursday, February 29th from 6:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.
- The Art of Abstraction Lecture Series: Mixed Materials and Sustainable Practice on Thursday, March 7th from 6:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.
