The Meyer Vogl Gallery will host GOOD ON PAPER, a group exhibition, next month. An opening celebration will take place on Friday, April 5th, 5-8pm
Curated by Gallery Director Katie Geer, GOOD ON PAPER will be the third inception of this group exhibition in which gallery artists are invited to submit works on paper. Some of these artists often work on paper and others typically do not. This year’s GOOD ON PAPER, however, is reenvisioned by Katie Geer and promises to showcase works on paper in a new light.
“We’ve done works-on-paper shows before, but they were usually pretty open-ended, lacking any guidelines or direction,” says Geer. “This time, I have a more distinct vision.”
Gallery artists Marissa Vogl, Marc Hanson, Christopher St. Leger and Kathleen Jones were asked to each create 4 works on paper. All 16 paintings will be done on 30x22-inch paper and framed in white. They will be displayed side by side during the show, which is on view at Meyer Vogl Gallery from April 5-26. “I'm excited about these details of uniformity, which I believe will really allow the paintings to do the talking,” says Geer.
GOOD ON PAPER promises a fresh group of works that will allow artists to work outside of their usual mediums and subject matter. Gallery artist Marissa Vogl says, “Working on paper feels less formal to me than canvas and is a really lovely way to free up my headspace and allow for experimentation and play. While canvas is structured and “proud,” we sometimes need to step out of our comfort zone to discover.”
The opening celebration for GOOD ON PAPER will take place during the Art Walk on Friday, April 5th, and is free to attend. More information can be found at https://meyervogl.com/exhibitions.
