Guests can embark on a musical journey through the extraordinary life and career of legendary singer-songwriter Carole King in Charleston Stage’s final production of the season, “Beautiful: The Carole King Musical,” presented at the Dock Street Theatre from April 10th to 28th.
This Tony, Olivier and Grammy Award-winning musical offers an intimate portrayal of Carole King's life, from her formative years as a Brooklyn teenager to her powerhouse career, writing chart-topping hits like “You Make Me Feel Like a Natural Woman,” “Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow” and “You’ve Got a Friend.” The production follows her early collaborations with her first husband Gerry Goffin, facing adversity in her solo breakthrough career and producing one of the best-selling albums of all time, “Tapestry.” “Beautiful” will keep audiences humming, smiling and reflecting on relatable lessons every time they hear one of King’s innumerable hits.
Featuring a score of King’s most popular songs led by Charleston Stage’s Artistic Director Marybeth Clark, musical direction by Sam Henderson and fabulous choreography by Cara Dolan, this production is sure to excite any musical theatre lover. Charleston Stage welcomes Eliza Knode as Carole King, whom audiences may recognize from past roles as Morticia Addams in “The Addams Family” and Inga Arvad in “JFK and Inga Binga.”
