It’s been a busy 24 hours for those following the rumor mill regarding Bravo’s newest reality show Southern Charm. The show, which will begin filming in Charleston next month, was not only confirmed, but now I’m getting information on who will be featured on the program.
Former state treasurer Thomas Ravenel was the first confirmation and now FITSNews has received a few more:
- Shep Rose – the nephew of former SC Department of Public Safety director B. Boykin Rose.
- Whitney Sudler-Smith – Patricia Altschul’s son. Altschul purchased the Mikell House for $4.8 million in 2008. Sudler-Smith will also be an executive producer on the show.
Much like Ravenel, both men clearly come from money, and in Rose’s case, a family with deep Southern roots.
The town of Boykin is named after B. Boykin Rose’s mother’s family. Their other claim to fame is the fact that the state’s dog, the Boykin Spaniel, is also named after them. As for Shep, there doesn’t appear to be much information on him at this time.
The same can not be said for Sudler-Smith. According to the Post & Courier, Sudler-Smith’s mother was married to Arthur Altschul who was a Wall Street executive, art collector and philanthropist. He died six years ago.
Sudler-Smith is a filmmaker who has been profiled by The New York Times. His 2010 documentary, Ultrasuede: In Search of Halston, was still making headlines last year. Here’s a look at his other writing and directing credits.
It should also be noted that Sudler-Smith’s cousin, Nicholas Loeb, is engaged to Modern Family‘s Sofia Vergara who was recently in town.
