The Charleston RiverDogs had already announced some new food and drink items for the upcoming season, but now they’ve finally released their always-exciting promotional schedule as well.
The team will have 70 home games this year, starting with their April 11th opener. The Opening Night festivities include an extended postgame fireworks display and free magnet schedules for fans.
Here are some highlights provided by the organization:
PROMO HIGHLIGHTS
April 11: Opening Night – Magnet schedule with detachable RiverDogs car magnet giveaway. It is also Budweiser Thirsty Thursday. Plus there will be postgame fireworks.
April 23: National Parks Night – Kids can sign up to be Junior Rangers and learn more about the National Parks Service as part of National Parks Week.
April 28: The “Marvelous Mutts” traveling show makes their debut in Charleston during one of five Dog Days at The Joe where fans are invited to bring along their canine friends.
May 11: Replica Jersey Giveaway – Want to look like one of the team members? The RiverDogs will give away replica RiverDogs jersey that features the home jersey design.
June 15: Inflatamaniacs Return – A performance that brings laughs to fans of all ages as the inflatable crew brings their unique brand of hijinks to The Joe for the third straight year.
July 2 & 3: Pre-Independence Day Fireworks Shows – Since the RiverDogs will be on the road on July 4, we will celebrate our nation's independence in style with not one – but two – nights of postgame fireworks.
July 27: Christmas in July – Members of the Salvation Army will be on hand to help celebrate Christmas in July as we turn The Joe into a (hot) winter wonderland. Along with a visit from Santa Claus, we'll also have the South Carolina debut of “Those Funny Little People,” (i.e., veterans of America’s Got Talent).
July 28: Daddy/Daughter Princess Day – The RiverDogs invite all dads to bring their precious daughters to the park for a fun evening of princess pampering and baseball.
STANDARD NIGHTLY PROMOS
Mondays: Dogs With a Cause and $1 Dogs and Beers – The RiverDogs partner with a local non-profit organization to generate exposure and funds for a specific cause. Mondays are also Dollar Dogs and Beers nights as fans can enjoy $1 draft beers brought to you by always smooth Keystone Light and $1 hot dogs in the Ashley View Pub.
Tuesdays: Two-for–$20 Date Nights & Healthy Challenge Tuesdays – Tuesdays can be special night as for only $20 fans can enjoy a pair of upper reserve tickets, two slices of pizza, a bag of popcorn and two sodas as part of “Date Night presented by 96.9 The Wolf.” Local Italian Restaurant, La Fontana, will is presenting the “Lucky Couple” of the game. One lucky couple will be chosen at random each Tuesday home game to win a free romantic Italian dinner for two while enjoying the game from La Fontana. Furthermore, the club will partner with the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) to make every Tuesday’s game at The Joe a night that is themed around living a healthier lifestyle as part of the MUSC Health Challenge.
Wednesdays: Senior Wednesdays – All fans 65 and older can eat free, thanks to AAA Carolinas, as they receive a complimentary hot dog, soda and chips for coming to mid-week RiverDogs games as part of MeTV Senior Wednesdays.
Thursdays: Thirsty Thursdays – Get an early start on the weekend with $1 beverages in the Ashley View Pub presented by Budweiser and 95SX. Returning again this year will be DJ Natty Heavy, who spins popular tunes throughout the game much to the musical delight of those in that special area.
Fridays: Postgame Fireworks & Red Shirt Fridays – This popular night makes a return as fans who wear red to the ballpark receive $1 off their walk-up ticket and then may donate that savings to Carolina Canines, the wounded-veteran service organization that brings “Titus the Bat Dog” to The Joe to retrieve bats during the game. Red Shirt Fridays are presented by General Dynamics Land Systems-Force Protection and WEZL. Every Friday will be punctuated with explosive postgame fireworks, presented by Piggly Wiggly. Fans are encouraged to secure their tickets in advance for this trendy night at The Joe.
Saturdays: Giveaways on Select Saturdays and Kids Run the Bases – To assist with families, all Saturday game times have been moved up to 6:05 pm. Select Saturday games feature free collectable giveaway items to the first 1,000 fans. This year's freebies are much improved and will consist of Charlie T. RiverDog hats, replica jerseys, RiverDogs/Bill Murray t-shirts, backpacks and more. Following the action on the field all kids can stick around and run the bases, and everyone is “safe.”
Sundays: Kids Club Sundays – Presented by Charleston County Parks and Recreation Commission, Crews Subaru and Y102.5, Sundays at Riley Park feature Free Parking and Kids Eat Free as all members of the RiverDogs Kids Club get a voucher for a free meal upon entering. The RiverDogs Kids Club, known as the RiverPups, is free to join and open to all kids 12-under. But that's not all as the RiverDogs pull out all the stops to cater to families, offering a pregame catch on the field, reading with the RiverDogs and the popular postgame autograph session with the entire RiverDogs team and loveable mascots, Charlie T. RiverDog, Chelsea and Bark.
RETURNING THEME NIGHTS
Dog Days: Bring your pooch to the park on April 14, April 28, May 13, May 26 and June 9.
Kids Opening Day: For the third consecutive year the RiverDogs kick off the first Sunday of the season with a day dedicated to kids with free RiverDogs Vapor Apparel youth t-shirts for the first 1,000 youngsters is set for April 14.
Youth Baseball and Softball Night: Presented by McDonald's on April 15, those playing youth baseball and softball will parade around the field before the game and take in a night of professional baseball. This make for a special night for them, and what a parade they make.
Education Day: Teachers have fun with their students at The Joe; April 17 and April 24, with a rare 11:05 am scheduled start times.
Military Appreciation Nights (3): Presented by General Dynamics Land Systems-Force Protection, we salute our men and women who help protect our many freedoms; April 25, July 13 and August 21.
Nurses Night: As part of National Nurses Week, the RiverDogs will salute our local RNs on May 9. This event is presented by Lucey Mortgage, who will give away prizes to nurses throughout the night that includes a scholarship as the grand prize.
Boy Scout Night: The devoted scouts of the Lowcountry will receive their well-deserved recognition and will be treated to an overnight camp-out at The Joe following the May 10 game.
Larry Doby Heritage Weekend and Salute to Negro League Baseball: This is the RiverDogs' annual salute to some of the game's great players; June 7-9.
Girl Scout Night: On June 8, the RiverDogs will call all Daisies, Brownies and veteran Girl Scouts to Riley Park for a night of baseball and activities.
Irish Night: A night, similar to March 17, when everyone is Irish; June 30. Bagpipes, pots of gold and Gaelic Games will take over The Joe for a night where we want everyone to wear green.
Firefighter Appreciation Night: Tri-County Firefighters will be saluted, courtesy of ServiceMaster, on June 5.
Big Splash Day: Be prepared to get wet, plain and simple; July 31 with a 12:05 pm start time.
Emergency Responders Appreciation Night: We acknowledge the services provided by this group of first responders on August 14.
ANNUAL HIGHLIGHTS
May 25: The 9th Run, Forrest, Run 5k Race presented by Fleet Feet Sports, is a unique 5K race that features a finish at home plate and a post-race meal and party prior to the RiverDogs game.
June 14: The 6th Annual Professional Baseball Scouts Hall of Fame Night, where the RiverDogs enshrine the newest members.
June 27: The All-Lowcountry High School Baseball and Softball team recognition and player of the year ceremonies, in cooperation with The Post and Courier.
July 3: Independence Day Fireworks Celebration Presented by Wells Fargo is simply the largest fireworks show in downtown Charleston. And we'll also have our second back-to-back nights of fireworks as we'll showcase a pre-Independence Day fireworks display on July 2, just to help get you in the spirit.
July 10-12: Charleston RiverDogs Baseball Camp presented by Kickin' Chicken is for all kids ages 6-13. Have your child learn the fundamentals of the game from RiverDogs players and coaches.
June 29: 13th Annual Kindness Beats Blindness silent auction will be held, in which the proceeds benefit MUSC's Storm Eye Institute.
Aug. 9: Charleston Baseball Hall of Fame Night is where we welcome the newest members into the hallowed halls of the Lowcountry baseball's elite.
Sept. 2: Fan Appreciation Night concludes the 2013 regular season in style with tremendous discounts all over the park and a mesmerizing fireworks display as a fitting swan song for the year that was.
