The Dorchester School District Two Board of Trustees met December 11, 2023, and approved Shaun Lorenzano (right) as a teacher and head football coach at Fort Dorchester High School, effective January 2024.
DDTwo followed a rigorous process to determine the next leader of the highly successful Fort Dorchester football program. The competitive hiring process included more than 30 internal and external candidates from a variety of high-caliber programs across multiple states. A panel including a teacher, District staff, administrator, and a parent interviewed the top candidates.
Joining the Patriots from Lake Howell High in Winter Park, FL, Coach Lorenzano’s 21-year coaching career (10 as a head coach) includes many highlights such as leading his team to the school’s best record in 26 years for back-to-back winning seasons, reaching its first post-season bowl game, and being district championship runner up twice.
While at Cypress Creek High in Orlando, FL, he led the team to its best record in the previous 10 years, reached the first post-season bowl game in 15 years, revitalized the team from ranking last to ranking among Florida’s top 50 teams, and he received the FCA Coach of the Year award.
Beyond football, his weightlifting coaching career has included transforming teams from ranking last to placing at state and coaching individual state champions. He was also named SAC Conference Coach of the Year twice.
"I am truly honored to be chosen as the next head football coach for Fort Dorchester High School,” said Coach Lorenzano. “I am excited to continue the Patriot’s rich history of winning and making a difference in the lives of our student athletes, both on and off the field.”
Fort Dorchester Principal Tripp Aldredge said, “We are thrilled to welcome Coach Lorenzano. His track record of success promises to build on our accomplishments, and we look forward to his infectious energy exciting our entire Fort Family.”
