After it was reported that South Carolina has $1.8 billion sitting in a bank account and state leaders don’t know why or how it happened, SC Democratic Party Chair Christale Spain called for new leadership.
“For decades, the Republican majority at the Statehouse have claimed to protect taxpayers and promote fiscal responsibility," Spain said. "Yet the so-called 'leadership' of Curtis Loftis and Legislative Republicans have failed to provide oversight. This $1.8 billion in unallocated funds is money that should be funding important programs, providing long overdue raises, or putting money back into the pockets of South Carolinians. It’s time for qualified leadership that prioritizes hard working taxpayers.”
