State Representative JA Moore (D-Charleston) introduced three bills on Tuesday that he says are designed to foster trade and investment between South Carolina and Colombia, Taiwan, and the Caribbean Islands.
H. 5544, 5545, and 5546 would each establish a 15-member trade commission tasked with promoting business and policy initiatives that increase economic activity between South Carolina and the partner region.
“Our economic partnerships with these countries are valuable and worth protecting,” Moore said. “These bills will serve to richen the connections between our state and our allies.”
Rep. Moore represents House District 15, the most diverse House district in South Carolina. His experiences in this district have helped shape his understanding of the importance of international cooperation and building connections with people from diverse backgrounds.
