Michael B. Moore, a Democrat running for the U.S. House of Representatives in South Carolina's 1st Congressional District, announced today the launch of "Educators for Moore" — a new coalition of teachers, administrators, and other educators from school districts throughout the Lowcountry who "trust him to serve as a committed champion for South Carolina's public education system in Washington, D.C."
"Educators for Moore" members will celebrate the group's launch with an event on May 15th at Stones Throw Brewing in Goose Creek, hosted by educators from Berkeley, Charleston, and Dorchester Counties who are supporting Moore's candidacy and his vision for the future of SC-01. Additional events are being organized by supporters across the district.
"Education is an issue that's long been important to my family and me," said Moore. "My great-great-grandfather, Robert Smalls, created America's first, free, compulsory, statewide public school system right here in South Carolina. My parents were both academics and college professors. My wife, Karla, is a special education teacher."
Moore added: "As the father of four sons, I believe it's critical that we invest in our public schools and strengthen learning outcomes across this district. I believe we must attract and retain our committed teachers with competitive salaries. And I believe that every child deserves a high-quality education — no matter their zip code."
