"Mac Deford is exactly what Congress needs now: fresh ideas, energy, and an eye toward real solutions," said Rep. Dutch Ruppersberger. "Mac is eager to serve and make a difference, drawing from his experience serving our nation in uniform, in the private sector, and local government. I endorse Mac with pride and enthusiasm."
The International Association of Bridge, Structural, Ornamental, and Reinforcing Iron Workers Union, the parent group of Ironworkers Local 846, has a current membership of 140,000 with 15,000 apprentices. Members of this union have worked on nearly every major construction project—the Golden Gate Bridge, the Sears Tower, the World Trade Center, and the World Trade Center recovery effort, to name a few.
"Receiving support from such distinguished people and organizations is both an honor and a humbling experience," Deford said. "Their belief in my capabilities for the 1st Congressional District of South Carolina affirms my commitment to securing a victory in June and November. Moving ahead, I pledge to be bold in meeting the challenges of our time, including safeguarding a woman’s autonomy over her healthcare choices, advocating for affordable housing and infrastructure improvements, supporting public education and our teachers, and pushing for sensible gun safety laws.”
