Tedder
Dr. Annie Andrews today announced her support for current State Representative Deon Tedder (H.D. 109) and his bid for the State Senate District 42 seat.
Andrews, a longtime pediatrician at MUSC, announced earlier this month that she would be leaving the hospital.
In April, Andrews, the 2020 Democratic Congressional Candidate (SC -01), launched, “Their Future Our Vote,” a Political Action Committee “focused on building a better future for the nation's children.”
“Deon will fight vigorously for women's rights and the future of our children in the South Carolina Senate,” Dr. Andrews said. “His top priorities are to protect our children from gun violence, improve public education, and create a South Carolina that supports families no matter their zip code,” Andrews stated in a social media post.
Tedder is a local attorney and graduate of the South Carolina State Honors College and the University of South Carolina School of Law. He was elected to the State House in 2020, following the retirement of longtime Representative David Mack (D).
“I am honored and humbled to receive an endorsement from Dr. Annie Andrews, a true fighter for our children and women's rights,” Tedder said.
Tedder announced his intentions to run for the soon-to-be-vacated seat on March 12th, 2023. Popular State Senator Marlon Kimpson (D) announced his retirement earlier this year following an appointment in the Biden administration.
The Democratic Primary for the Senate District 42 Special Election will be held in September.
