Hollywood native and current CCSD Board of Trustees member for District 8, Darlene Dunmeyer-Roberson today announced that she will run for re-election. Dunmeyer-Roberson currently represents the areas of Hollywood, Ravenel, Edisto Island, Wadmalaw Island, and parts of Johns Island, James Island, and West Ashley.
Her official announcement and re-election kickoff will take place on Sunday, April 28th at 3 pm at Gilligan’s Seafood Restaurant on Johns Island.
Dunmeyer-Roberson is a proud product of Charleston County Schools Constituent District 23 as a graduate of Baptist Hill High School. She has a Bachelor’s degree in Experimental Psychology from the University of South Carolina and a Master’s degree in Urban Education with a specialization in School Counseling from Norfolk State University. She is married to a retired Naval Officer and mother of a decorated combat-war veteran.
Her 36 years of professional experience includes several positions and roles in education and counseling. She has worked for the South Carolina State Department of Social Services where she was responsible for writing policy and guidelines for Medicaid eligibility and an Educational Consultant for children in Foster Care.
Dunmeyer-Roberson also worked as an Education Specialist for The Navy College Program and an Instructional Specialist for the Department of Defense teaching 5th grade students. In the sector of public education, she has worked as a licensed professional School Counselor and a Director of School Counseling Programs. She is the CEO of Next Level Educational Services, LLC where she has provided Educational Consulting services to educational and state agencies. Since permanently returning home in 2019, she’s worked with North Charleston High School and St. John’s High School, providing leadership training to administrators, directors of counseling and counseling staff members.

"I have built strong connections with parents, students, teachers, administrators, and community members. Getting re-elected allows me to further strengthen these connections and continue engagement with stakeholders to address their needs and concerns. We have achieved significant milestones during my first term and there are specific goals we still want to accomplish. Getting re-elected will give us that opportunity to see those through and make a lasting impact on the school district."
