The Charleston County School District (CCSD) Board of Trustees voted today to accept a mutual settlement agreement that has resulted in Dr. Eric Gallien's (above) decision to separate from employment with the Charleston County School District, effective immediately. Anita Huggins has been appointed acting superintendent, also effective immediately. Huggins was previously Deputy Superintendent and has served CCSD for 26 years. The Board also received the report of the investigation into the superintendent's actions conducted by Attorney Allan Holmes of Gibbs & Holmes. The investigation was conducted at the Board's direction after receiving an internal complaint from a district employee that had claimed the superintendent's actions led to a hostile work environment. In a statement released to the public, the district said the following: “We understand that this sequence of events has been very challenging for our community, and CCSD hopes that through open dialogue, we can move forward for the sake of the children in our district.”
