Press Release
This GivingTuesday, Trident United Way has set a goal to raise $100K in support of the 2-1-1 Helpline.
Trident United Way's 2-1-1 Helpline provides individuals and families access to critical resources. Over the last year, 2-1-1 received 13,702 calls and gave a total of 24,286 referrals across the Tri-County! This GivingTuesday, we are hoping to raise a total of $100,000 in just one day to bolster these services for our community.
“At Trident United Way, we know the power of LIVING UNITED,” said Trident United Way Board Chair Wendy Kopp. “That’s why this year our Board of Directors has generously pledged to collectively match GivingTuesday donations from our community up to $50,000. Members of our Board are rising to the challenge with personal and corporate gifts to our GivingTuesday campaign in support of the 2-1-1 Helpline, and I am proud to help lead this charge.”
“2-1-1 is an easy, accessible link to stabilizing services where members of our community can connect to many forms of assistance with just one call or text message,” said Trident United Way Interim President & CEO Brad Davis. “Not only does 2-1-1 provide essential support to the Tri-County, it also offers real-time data to help us gain a greater understanding of current community needs.”
On Tuesday, November 29th from 10 am – 11 am, members of Trident United Way's Board of Directors, staff and volunteers will be thanking donors and taking pledges by phone and online with the hope of reaching $100,000 for 2-1-1. Opportunities will be available for interviews, photos and video footage at our offices at 6296 Rivers Avenue, #200, North Charleston, SC 29406.
