Charleston County today announced that Glenn McConnell Parkway lane closures will begin on Wednesday, August 9th at 7 pm for paving operations. This work is part of the Glenn McConnell widening project.
Details provided by the county:
- Paving work is scheduled from August 9th through August 16th from 7 pm to 6 am
- Crews will be working on the eastbound inside travel lane and select left turn lanes throughout the project limits from Bees Ferry Road to Magwood Drive
- Drivers and residents should expect to see traffic control signs, message boards, and reduced speed limits
- Motorists are asked to use caution while driving through the construction area
- All work is weather dependent. Nighttime storms or rain will impact the paving schedule
Charleston County Public Works will be performing clearing operations as construction continues to make progress on Glenn McConnell Parkway. Glenn McConnell Parkway Widening Project includes improvements along an approximately 2.1-mile section of Glenn McConnell Parkway starting near Magwood Drive to the intersection with Bees Ferry Road. The primary goal is to relieve traffic congestion on Glenn McConnell Parkway and improve bike/pedestrian access throughout the project corridor.
