DURHAM, N.C. –– The Southern Leadership for Voter Engagement (SOLVE) Network is excited to announce a funding opportunity for Southern organizations and groups to increase civic participation and engagement in historically underrepresented communities across the region.
The application for the 2024-2025 Southern Spark Grant opened, May 28, 2024, and closes June 17, 2024. These $10,000, one-year project support grants are designed to support community-based organizations in their efforts to fight for a participatory, responsive, inclusive, and expansive democracy in the South.
“I am grateful SOLVE is able to bring another grant opportunity to our community and organizational partners,” said Mitchell Brown, SOLVE Network Coordinator. “We are continuing the legacy that SOLVE was built upon over 10 years ago by funding those who are helping voters and pushing back against undemocratic attempts to suppress voting in the South. Our right to vote is under attack in the South, and we need to do everything within our power to protect our democracy.”
The Southern Spark Grants are intended to spark organizational capacity building related to civic participation work around the most pressing issues in communities across the South.
We are most interested in projects that use advocacy, education, organizing, mobilization, and/or communications strategies to promote non-partisan civic education and engagement in historically underrepresented communities.
