Summerville area residents and visitors can soon enjoy the country’s latest entertainment trend: the selfie museum. On September 2nd, Selfie Addict Studio (SAS) will open its doors at 127 S. Main Street, between Lush Language and Eva’s.
What is a selfie museum? It’s a type of art gallery with interactive exhibits that serve as an aesthetic setting for visitors to pose in photographs and capture videos — ideal for sharing on social media. Data shows that, globally, people take 93 million selfies every day, a number that continues to grow.
Selfie Addict Studio says they “will provide a series of dynamic spaces designed to create one-of-a-kind photos with family and friends through creative backgrounds, props, optical illusions, and murals.”
“We are excited to bring a unique and unforgettable entertainment option to the Lowcountry that allows you to be yourself and have fun,” said co-owner Kristina Knecht.
Selfie Addict Studio guests will take selfies on their own devices, giving them immediate access to their new content. Along with semi-permanent flagship “booths,” SAS will rotate some booths periodically, including a seasonal exhibit. They also plan to share ideas and let guests and social followers “vote” on future booth themes.
In addition to scheduled bookings of Selfie Addict Studio’s interactive installations, the entire facility will be available to book for private parties, events, photoshoots, or media productions. Brands and businesses can sponsor displays as well.
Local charities SAS has pledged to support include Courageous Kidz, Wings for Kids, Lowcountry Orphan Relief, and We Are Family. The business was co-founded by Knecht, Quista Dempsey, and Julie Sprankles.
