WalletHub today released its study on 2024's Best & Worst States for Military Retirees and South Carolina ranked as being the best in the country. This is an improvement from last year, when the state was the runner-up.
To help our troops plan their years after service, WalletHub compared the 50 states and the District of Columbia across 28 key indicators of retirement-friendliness for veterans. The data set ranges from job opportunities for veterans to housing affordability to the quality of VA hospitals.

- 18th – % of Homeless Veterans
- 25th – Housing Affordability
- 4th – % of Veteran-Owned Businesses
- 9th – Number of VA Benefits-Administration Facilities per Number of Veterans
- 4th – Quality of VA Hospitals
