Press Release
The Sisters of Charity Foundation of South Carolina (SCFSC) today announced a promotion as well as the addition of a new team member.
Chynna A. Philips (right) has been promoted to Senior Director of Policy and Research. In her new role, Chynna will lead all policy priorities that will further the overall mission of the Foundation, bring awareness to systems-level poverty drivers, and ultimately support the Foundation's goal of reducing poverty in South Carolina.
“Our Board of Trustees and staff are incredibly grateful to Chynna for her passion and drive to make positive change happen in our state,” said Donna Waites, Vice President of Programs. “Under Chynna's leadership, we have deepened our policy, advocacy, and research efforts which, we believe, will ultimately play a vital role in reducing poverty in S.C. This promotion will increase her responsibilities, but is also evidence of our belief in Chynna and this work.”
Chynna has served as the Policy and Research Director for the last two years. This new role is a well-deserved acknowledgment of the strides Chynna has made leading the Foundation's public policy and advocacy work. Her expanded role will now include the supervision of the Foundation's newest hire, the Community Outreach Coordinator.
Sisters of Charity welcomes Sarah Katherine DeVenny (right). She joins the Foundation team as a Community Outreach Coordinator. In this role, Sarah Katherine will coordinate community outreach activities that enhance the Foundation's research and advocacy work, as well as grantee and nonprofit partnerships.
“The Community Outreach Coordinator is a new position for us that will bolster our advocacy and research work,” said Tom Keith. “After a fairly intense and lengthy process, we are excited to announce the hiring of Sarah Katherine. She brings energy and passion as well as a strong community-minded background to the Foundation.”
Sarah Katherine most recently worked with the University of South Carolina in Columbia, S.C., as the disability resource coordinator in the Student Disability Resource Center. Prior to that, she worked as an admissions counselor for the University of South Carolina, Lancaster.
