Capital Development Partners today announced the opening of Shipyard Creek Logistics Center, featuring a 160,250-square-foot transload facility on 42 acres adjacent to the Leatherman Terminal in North Charleston. The facility will be ready for operations in the fall of 2024.
This state-of-the-art facility includes direct access to Interstate 26 and a large dual rail facility. Officials say "the high-velocity, low-cost transportation capability is unparalleled, enabling a high volume of fast imports and exports at a lower cost to U.S. consumers."
Shipyard Creek Logistics Center is the most significant infrastructure investment on the East Coast of the United States," said Capital Development Partners CEO, John Knox Porter. "The facility provides unprecedented capability for high-velocity services for importers/exporters. Capital Development Partners and the South Carolina Ports Authority have both invested heavily to provide a competitive advantage that will serve our customers for many years to come."
Additionally, Capital Development Partners is developing a 259,200-square-foot, 27-acre US government inspection facility and warehouse for a distribution company at Shipyard Creek Logistics Center. The facility will be completed in the fall of 2025.
The 135-acre site is located on the newly developed Sewanee Road in North Charleston, adjacent to the SC Ports' Leatherman Terminal in the heart of the Charleston port market.
