Pet Helpers today announced their Barksgiving Day Foster Program. Would you like to invite a shelter dog to your home for Thanksgiving dinner? Pet Helpers has a number of dogs that need a little extra love this holiday and they are looking for foster families that are able to add one more seat at the table for a furry friend in need.
Beginning today through Wednesday, November 22nd, Pet Helpers invites interested foster families who aren’t traveling for the holiday to pick out a dog to take home for Thanksgiving dinner (dog friendly meals only, as many of the items we enjoy as humans are not safe for pets) and a cozy, family-filled holiday vacation.
Pet Helpers will provide all the supplies needed to care for the overnight dinner guest including food, toys, a crate, etc.
"Shelter life can be stressful and confusing for some dogs, so a few days in a loving home can do wonders for a pet, both emotionally and physically," said Melissa Susko, Executive Director. “The adoption center can be noisy and busy, and in your home, they can relax and enjoy the creature comforts of home and be themselves. Our hope is to place each and every one of our dogs with a family for the holiday season. This means they can enjoy zooming around, lounging on the couch, or begging for pet-friendly scraps at the dinner table. After fostering, the feedback we receive is incredibly valuable to our staff as they assess how your furry visitor did in a home environment.”
