North Charleston Public Works crews continue to collect a large amount of residential yard debris from Hurricane Ian and are working Saturdays to expedite collections. Removal of all storm debris could take several weeks. Garbage collections are on regular schedule with no interruptions in service.
At this time, crews will only collect vegetative debris (dead and downed plant/tree material). Collection of household items, building materials, and appliances will resume Monday, October 24.
Plastic bags WILL NOT be collected, all leaves and grass clipping must be placed in paper bags.
Logs and limbs, no longer than 4 feet in length, must be cut and placed curbside. Large stumps and logs must be cut and divided into smaller pieces.
Do not place debris near mailboxes, utility boxes, or parked vehicles.
Debris generated by work of contractors, including tree, shrub, and landscaping debris, must be removed by the contractor, owner, or occupants through private means.
For Carolina Waste service area for our North Charleston residents residing in Dorchester County, Public Works is assisting Carolina Waste in collecting vegetative debris outside of their normal contracted services for debris. Same guidelines as above apply.
