Heads up, Charleston – we’re expecting major tidal flooding this weekend, and we want to make sure you’re prepared.
Significant King Tides are predicted for Saturday, November 16, from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., and Sunday, November 17, from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
On Saturday, the highest tide will hit around 7:46 a.m., with water levels reaching about 8.1 feet.
On Sunday, the high tide is expected around 8:39 a.m., with water levels around 7.9 feet.
Flooding could begin 1–2 hours before and after these times, so stay alert and make adjustments to your plans.
If you live in a flood-prone area, consider moving your vehicle to higher ground to avoid damage. While no rain is forecasted, the tides are expected to be strong enough to cause serious flooding, which can put you and your car at risk. If you come across flooded roads, remember the safety rule: Turn around, don’t drown. And please, avoid driving around barricades—they’re there for your safety.
