Press Release
SAVANNAH – Savannah's contemporary boutique hotel, The Kimpton Brice – nestled in the quieter part of the Historic District – proudly announces the completion of a full-property refresh. The renovations included the hotel's lobby, guest rooms, corridors, meeting rooms, Pool Terrace, Secret Garden, and on-site restaurant, Pacci Italian Kitchen + Bar. As the first full-touch renovation since the hotel's inception in 2014, the redesign ushers in the newest chapter in the building's storied history {some of the former being a livery stable, cotton warehouse, and Coca-Cola bottling plant} by modernizing the guest experience and maintaining the gracious Southern hospitality for which the property has long been known. Thoughtfully-curated amenities transform the historic downtown fixture into a haven for social gatherings, meetings, and engaging leisure travel experiences.
“The completion of the full-property refresh and renovations represents the culmination of tireless work on the part of multiple parties,” says Jason Gifford, General Manager of The Kimpton Brice. “We are proud to bring this vision to life and to be able to reintroduce The Brice as the hotel that delivers memorable moments to guests. Our curated experiences, along with our dedicated staff and unique amenities, retains the soul and depth that so strongly connects The Brice with the Savannah locals and inbound travelers. The chic ambiance and the incredible history of the building also attracts many as their staycation hotel of choice, including countless that road trip up and down the coastline.”
During the nearly year-long project, master craftsmen and designers worked meticulously to achieve the perfect balance between modern and traditional, past and present. The Los Angeles-based interior and architectural design firm, Forchielli Glynn, was tasked to re-envision the hotel's new look, which marries the brand's contemporary identity with Southern luxury and sophistication. Upon arrival, guests immediately immerse themselves in a conventional, yet contemporary masterpiece. The artfully-choreographed lobby touts a communal sofa to promote socialization, cozy seating, fun fringe chairs, iron rod artwork {symbolic of historical gates and entryways to Savannah estate homes}, and just the right touch of gold accent fixtures. Various seating layouts were sculpted to create meandering pathways encouraging flexible socialization, including a custom-made cane settee tucked away offering guests a tranquil literary corner with interesting books and objects on display, along with a movable beverage cabinet that will transform to a convivial afternoon Social Hour station.
The full restoration of the 145 guest rooms, which includes 25 suites, pays homage to traditional qualities found in Southern homes and reimagines that with contradictory elements – hard and soft, colorful and quiet, energetic and restful, playful and serious, tailored and lush. A color palette of gray and white speak to the city's history, connecting to its native brick color with the infusion of greens and fuchsia linking to the Secret Garden and ethereal elements found throughout the squares and homes surrounding the area. Sealy and Frette piped bed linens and natural wood-look flooring creates a background of individuality, leaving guests with an indelible impression of high-end hospitality. To meet the needs of today's travelers, the enhancements also include completely remodeled bathrooms and vanity areas with glass shower enclosures with hex patterns and subway tile to tie into the industrial history of the building. Whether in town for business or pleasure, guests will enjoy a new standard of style and function.
Designed to be a stunning focal point, Pacci Italian Kitchen + Bar, the on-site restaurant and bar that serves up Italian-inspired Southern cuisine offers elements of rich textures, charcoal wood furniture, and a neutral color scheme. The eatery comes to life with refreshed menus and a revived interior, featuring all new furniture that pays tribute coastal Italian towns. Open daily from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., excluding lunch, and weekend brunch served on Saturdays and Sundays from 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m., guests can also enjoy live music on Friday and Saturday evenings. The reinvigorated restaurant features craveable dishes and thematic cocktails, both that exudes bold flavors. Executive Chef JohnAngelo Cole brings an authentic culinary style to the galley, bringing lifelong experiences of growing up in a large Italian family where he spent a lot of his childhood in the kitchen cooking alongside the best in his family.
With accent shades of bright summer colors, the refreshed concepts for the Pool Terrace and Secret Garden slightly differentiate from the rest of the hotel, while creating a thread of continuity through a black-and-white base palette. The pool area now has all-new chaise lounge chairs, tables, and umbrellas, and the Secret Garden has more designated areas for outdoor dining, including bench seating. The cocktail area in the Secret Garden now includes a concrete communal table with a nearby fire pit for post-dinner nightcaps.
