Katie’s Krops, an organization that creates community gardens to help feed the hungry, is hosting an athletic fundraising event on Tuesday, July 29th. The organization’s 1st annual Swim-a-thon will be held at the Pine Forest Country Club Pool in Summerville beginning at 4 pm.
Katie’s Krops will use the funds from the event to help pay for a new fence to surround one of the organization’s gardens. According to the group, deer have been “ravaging” the garden this season and they can not seem to stop the animals from eating the crops. A high fence appears to be the only solution, but it will be costly.
Community members can help Katie’s Krops by participating in the Swim-a-thon. The event is open to swimmers of all ages and abilities. Click here for more information. When you’re ready, click here to register for the event.
