On Saturday, April 27th, local non profit Going Places will host their first big fundraiser, an Adult Field Day, at the Palmetto Islands County Park in Mt. Pleasant.
The event will include games from On Purpose Adventures, including a mix of old school favorite games like the three-legged race and tug of war, mixed with some new-age games like combat archery.
There will be 2 divisions to choose from when signing up: “The Competitive Athletes” (teams made up of individuals who feel they are “in shape,” workout on a daily basis, and compete often) and the “Average Joes” (teams made up of individuals who do not necessarily workout daily and are less intense when it comes to competition).
Both divisions will be awarded a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place prizes. For every $500 teams raise prior to the event, they will come into the game with 1 point towards winning.

About Going Places
Going Places is a nonprofit that provides disadvantaged kids with their most basic childhood right – A right to Joy. We do that by providing EVERY child in a low income elementary school with a brand new, custom bike. The work founder, Katie Blomquist did last year went viral. It was featured on New York Nightly News with Lester Holt, ABC World News, Time Magazine, and the Steve Harvey Show. Many of these children have never owned anything new before, let alone a new bike, so when we surprise them with these bikes, it truly transforms their childhood.
