On Friday, June 17th, the Second Presbyterian Church of Charleston will host their first Charleston Community Supper at 6 pm in Wragg Square. The event is being held on the one-year anniversary of the
Emmanuel AME Church tragedy.
The meal will be potluck-style with food being donated by local restaurants and businesses. The community is welcome to bring side dishes and desserts to the event if they would like to contribute. Regardless, there will be no charges or fees to attend.
Following the meal, there will be a community service given by over ten neighborhood
churches and their leaders in the Second Presbyterian sanctuary. Respectful music will be performed by church choirs during the
meal and service.
Organizers say the event is being put together to “celebrate the community's strength and how Charleston, as a city, is able to come together in times of need. We will be celebrating our resilience and ability to act in ways that separate us from others in encountering acts of terror.”
