Charleston Terrors, a local ghost tour company, has completed its acquisition of the Villisca Axe Murder House in Iowa, the site of unsolved octuple murders in 1912 and one of America's most haunted houses.
The Villisca murders remain one of the most chilling unsolved crimes in American history. In the quiet town of Villisca, Iowa, eight people, including six children, were brutally murdered in their sleep. Despite numerous investigations and two trials, the case remains unsolved.
The house was first restored in the 1990s, allowing visitors to experience the house as it was on the night of the tragic event. The eerie experiences witnessed by visitors, combined with the house’s historical significance, draw visitors from all over the world to confront its unsettling past and place in true crime history.
“The house seems to have a life of its own," said Johnny Houser, who has managed the Villisca Axe Murder House for two decades. "From my own experiences and what guests have shared over the years, there are unexplained sounds, movements of objects, and even physical touch that occurs to those who dare stay the night.”
