RentCafe, an apartment website, released a report on The Best Places for Renter Families in 2023 and they ranked Charleston as being the 15th best in the country.
To rank the cities, the website examined 136 U.S. cities using 25 metrics divided into three areas — cost of living, local economy, and quality of life.
Here is how Charleston ranked:
- #8 for Local Economy
- 6% job growth this year,
- 3.4% unemployment rate
- The city also has a significant proportion of higher educated renters (56%)
- #36 for Cost of Living & Housing
- 29% of Charleston's apartments are newly built
- #63 for Quality of Life
