The Holy City did it again! For the sixth straight year, readers of Travel + Leisure magazine have named Charleston the Best City in the U.S. In addition, the Holy City was tabbed as the 10th best city in the world.
The magazine had the following to say about Charleston’s top ranking:
“The jewel of the South Carolina coast has crowned our list of favorite American cities since 2013. But that doesn't mean the Lowcountry destination isn't evolving. Thanks to an influx of business, Charleston is bustling with revitalized energy.”
Travel + Leisure‘s 2018 World's Best Awards Survey is based on readers’ votes in categories like sights/landmarks culture, food, friendliness, shopping, and value. The Holy City topped No. 2 New Orleans and No. 3 Savannah on the U.S. list.
San Miguel de Allende, Mexico topped the World’s Best City list for the second straight year. Charleston was the only American city that was ranked in the top 15. The Holy City ranked first in 2016 and remains the only U.S. city to ever top the ‘world’ list.
As usual, the awards for Charleston didn't stop there:
