Charleston Grill at The Charleston Place will soon reopen its doors to debut refreshed interiors, an updated menu, and new culinary leadership. The restaurant was briefly closed for refurbishments led by designers Gregory Blake Sams and Athalie Derse.
“We're thrilled to welcome guests and locals alike back into Charleston Grill,” said Olivier Gaupin, Director of Culinary for The Charleston Place. “For nearly 30 years, Charleston Grill has been renowned for providing unparalleled dining experiences and warm hospitality. With revitalized interiors and a new menu featuring imaginative dishes honoring the purveyors and makers of the South, we hope to continue creating the premier ambiance for toasting special occasions both big and small.”
The Charleston Place also announced the new culinary leadership at Charleston Grill. In February, longtime executive chef Michelle Weaver will be transitioning into a new role as Culinary Ambassador for The Charleston Place. In this new position, Weaver will oversee all culinary recruitment, epicurean direction, and training across all restaurants at The Charleston Place, including Charleston Grill and Palmetto Café. Sous chef Suzy Castelloe has been promoted to Chef de Cuisine, bringing more than a decade of fine dining experience to the restaurant.
Working alongside Gaupin and Weaver, Castelloe’s menu will include selections such as: Imperial Osetra Caviar with Crème Fraiche, Local Coast Oysters with Merlot Mignonette and Shallot, and Braised Pork Shank Ragout with Ricotta Cavatelli.
The dining room at Charleston Grill is open Wednesday through Sunday from 5:30 pm to 9:30 pm, with the lounge opening at 5 pm on those days. The Grill features live jazz Wednesday through Saturday from 5:30 pm to 10 pm, and Sunday from 5:30 pm to 9:30 pm.
