Charleston Spokes, the Holy City's bike-sharing program, is expanding into West Ashley. To celebrate this milestone, Lime is teaming up with Charleston Bicycle Company to host a demo ride and soft launch event on Sunday, May 19th, 2024 at 8:30 am at Charleston Bicycle Company (1319 Savannah Hwy, Charleston).
“It’s been an amazing two years in Charleston for Lime and we’re thrilled to be doubling our service area by expanding into West Ashley," said Adriana Lopez Hernandez, Operations Manager for South Carolina and Florida at Lime. "We’re proud that people rely on Charleston Spokes as a way to get around the city, go to class or to work, or explore the restaurants and attractions Charleston has to offer and we’re excited about more and more riders being able to benefit from our service. We look forward to celebrating National Bike Month, our two year anniversary, and this service expansion, all with a demo ride event with the Charleston Bicycle Company next weekend and we hope to see you there."
Lime says their expansion to West Ashley represents the company's "dedication to supporting the city's vision of equitable bike share usage and extending micromobility beyond the Peninsula." Residents now have the opportunity to ride along the Greenway, the bikeway, and utilize Lime's bike sharing program for daily errands or as part of their commute.
In addition, Lime is actively collaborating with the City of Charleston to strategically place bike hubs, ensuring they are conveniently located where they are most needed.
