Charleston County will return to OPCON 3, indicating normal operations, at 6 p.m. today in conjunction with the closure of the Emergency Operations Center. As planned, the county will resume normal in-person operations tomorrow.
The Bees Ferry Landfill remains on schedule to open at 7 a.m. Saturday, and will offer extended weekend hours, opening from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. Environmental Management crews have been all hands on deck working to reopen the landfill after record amounts of rainfall created waterlogged conditions.
Damage assessments are currently underway, with Public Works and Building Inspections crews fanned out across the county evaluating drainage infrastructure, roads, buildings, and debris.

Yard debris should be disposed of via normal methods.
Charleston County Mosquito Control has begun surveillance on potential breeding areas and will continue mitigation efforts in the coming weeks.
At 3 p.m. today, area storm shelters closed and county garages offering free storm parking resumed normal operations.
Charleston County Emergency Management officials continue to monitor Edisto River levels. According to the National Weather Service, flooding is possible in the coming days. Residents in the area should monitor water levels and be prepared to relocate to higher ground if necessary.

As a reminder, today’s Charleston County Council Committee meetings have been rescheduled for 6 p.m. Tuesday, August 13. The County Council meeting will immediately follow.
The Charleston Center continues to provide withdrawal management and residential services. All outpatient services are cancelled through today. The Opioid Treatment Program will resume normal dosing hours Saturday morning.
The Judicial Center remains closed today and will return to normal operations tomorrow.
Jury duty is cancelled in the Charleston County Court of Common Pleas and General Sessions this week. All jurors are excused for the week and do not need to report.
