The Charleston County Coroner’s Office today confirmed that the body of Zachary Elder Lewis, a man reported missing by family members on Sunday, was found on Shutes Folly Island.
Prior to today's discovery, Lewis, 31, was last seen in downtown Charleston near Ashley Avenue around 2 am on Sunday. He was a resident at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) and a former tennis player at the College of Charleston.
Coroner Bobbi Jo O’Neal said the coroner’s office completed a forensic autopsy and the cause of death was "currently pending additional tests and further investigation." The City of Charleston Police Department is the investigating agency.
