Lowcountry AIDS Services (LAS) will celebrate the 22nd Anniversary of their Dining with Friends event on May 3rd. The fundraising event benefits one of the largest HIV nonprofits in the state, which provides direct client services and prevention education.
Why is supporting this cause important? Because, according to LAS Executive Director Bradley Childs, “South Carolina ranks ninth in the nation for new HIV infections, and…was identified as having one of the fastest-growing new infection rates in the state.”
Throughout the day on May 3rd, supporters are asked to host some kind of dinner party at their homes before joining together with other participants for a lavish after party. Hosts provide dinner, while LAS will provide invitations, donation envelopes for guests, posters and red ribbons. The style, location, menu, and details are completely up to the host.
Dinner hosts, their guests, and interested supporters will then meet at No. 5 Faber at 9 pm for the official after party. Local restaurants are providing drinks and desserts for you to enjoy while listening to live music. No. 5 Faber is located off East Bay Street between Queen and Cumberland streets.
LAS encourages people to sign-up to host a party, but you can still attend the after party with a $20 donation at the door.
