Lowcountry Local First (LLF) launched its 13th annual Buy Local Season campaign on October 1st as a grassroots movement to build awareness for the positive community benefits of supporting local, independent businesses—particularly during the holiday season. The organization urges the community to shift their holiday spending to local businesses that often rely on healthy fourth quarter numbers to survive.
“When we choose to spend our money with local businesses, we're doing more than making a purchase—we're building the kind of community we want to live in. Every dollar that stays close to home, supports local jobs, fosters entrepreneurship, and creates a ripple effect of economic growth that touches everyone," said Mara Fields, Communications Manager. "This holiday season, we encourage everyone to shop locally. Not only will you find unique, meaningful gifts, but you’ll also be investing in the success of your neighbors instead of corporate chains and billionaires.”
To amplify the Buy Local Season this year, Lowcountry Local First is "popping up" all over town to spread the "Shop Small, Y'all!" message. The organization matched local brands and boutiques to create unique shopping experiences throughout the season. Join LLF at The Mills House on November 21st or The Francis Marion hotel on December 6th for champagne toasts and local vendors displayed in their respective lobbies for an elevated shopping experience in collaboration with Gold Creations.
The public can also find Lowcountry Local First at the Holy City Holiday Market on December 22nd. Residents can head to Park Circle to shop 250+ vendors across Holy City Brewing, Firefly Distillery and The Station Park Circle. LLF will be handing out Buy Local tote bags and showcasing graduates from the organization’s 12-week Community Business Academy. The event is free, family-friendly and open to the public.
