Sydney van Bulck, candidate for CCSD Consolidated School Board District 7 in West Ashley, said that her campaign has received over $12,000 in campaign donations, nearly three times that of her opponent, Joy Brown.
As of the SC Election Commission reporting deadline on July 10th, 2022, van Bulck has raised $12,133.94 to Brown's $4,212, including 58 individual donations from educators.
“My supporters want to see more educators on the board who have actually spent time in a classroom,” said van Bulck. “Our voices and concerns have been stifled for too long because we haven't had the board representation we needed, and that must change if we truly want to improve our schools.”
Sydney van Bulck taught child development for 12 years at Goodwin Elementary in North Charleston, earned a B.S. in early childhood education at the College of Charleston, and has been active in the SC Education Association and SC for Ed.
